Statoil Petroleum AS has confirmed receipt of partner’s approval for a Contract award to Floatel International for its DP 3 accommodation and construction support vessel Floatel Superior.
The initial period is for a minimum of 5 months plus 2 months option commencing spring 2011. Statoil have further options to extend the contract for work in 2012 and 2013.
Floatel Superior is a DP 3 semi-submersible accommodation and construction support vessel delivered from Keppel FELS Shipyard in March 2010.
The vessel is outfitted with an accommodation capacity for 440 persons in single bed cabins and ample recreation areas as well as office facilities for client use. The large payload and deck area in combination with dual cranes able to support the host facility makes the vessel ideal for construction support during new construction and for maintenance activities of offshore oil and gas installations.
Floatel Superior is the first new built vessel for almost 20 years to meet the most stringent rules and regulations for worldwide operation including the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
